| It's the hottest time of the year for spicy, saucy wings
The way Michael Deary sees it, when you're a football fan, you gotta wing it. On game days, you can smell the excitement in Deary's Elk Grove, Calif., kitchen as he starts frying up his Buffalo wings early so he'll have a big pile for friends and family to tackle by kickoff. "I'm a fanatic about them," says the longtime Raiders fan. "My friends come over, and they're like, 'You're cooking wings at 8 in the morning?'" Wings have found a winning teammate in football -- with wing consumption peaking on Super Bowl weekend. Last year, more than 1 billion wing servings flew into the sunset and into human gullets during the big game weekend, the National Chicken Council reports. This is from the National Chicken Council, www. eatchicken.com. New component design could reduce cost of proposed Facility for Rare ...
Researchers at the U.S. Department of Energys (DOE) Argonne National Laboratory have developed new state-of-the-art techniques that will lead to significant improvements in the performance of superconducting niobium cavities. Argonnes superconducting spoke cavities can operate at lower temperatures and at higher magnetic fields than previous designs, translating into a potential savings in the cost of a heavy-ion linear accelerator, such as that required for the proposed Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB). An electromagnetic cavity consists of a space surrounded by an electrical conductor. When an electromagnetic (EM) wave that shares the cavitys natural frequency enters, it bounces back and forth within the cavity, creating a phenomenon known as resonance.
U.S. candidates get set for 2 crucial primaries
Sometimes taking the short cut to save money ends up in the more expensive category? When in history has change come FAST without cost? Take the French Revolutions as one simple example. Yes, we all want change! However, change is a process–not a movement no matter how noble the outcry. America, itself, is the best example. We have both a black man and a woman running for President! How many years since the birth of this country did it take to bring it about? History bears many lessons and one must look to the past to understand the future and where it must go! Responsibly, Hillary Clinton has the best chance of any Democratic or Republican candidate to bring history to the present. Take away the "black" and the "woman" aspect and lay all the cards on the table from what you know about Obama and Clinton.
PBS lurching ever more to the left
Most of the cooking shows are bland and greedy asking a premium for second rate food and recipes in a cheap book. Quality shows (like both Antiques Roadshow) could make it commercially. The cooking from cable TV is much better and most is available on the web so leave PBS to those with more good feelings than sense and skip the channels and the unending pledge breaks. Oh yeah, also cut off the government money so they are totally free to do as they like and produce anything they think necessary. That is, IF they can afford it. Whenever someone suggests cutting the funds they always whine that government funding is only a timy part, so make up the tiny part and save that pittance for the budget. .
Gingered Pear Soup
To poach the pears, put the water, wine, sugar, orange slices, and cloves in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat; simmer for 5 minutes. Add the pears; simmer, turning occasionally, until they are tender, about 15 minutes (less if the pears are riper). Meanwhile, wrap the ginger, bay leaf, cinnamon stick, peppercorns, anise seed, and clove in cheesecloth and tie with a string. Pour the pear nectar into a small saucepan; add the cheesecloth bag. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat; cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Taste and let the broth steep if you want a stronger spice flavor. To serve, place a pear upright in the center of a dessert bowl. (Even the bottom of the pear, if necessary so it will stand up straight.) Ladle the soup into the bowl.
First, fairy cakes – then welding, kids
Since it came to power, the Labour government has introduced 2,685 pieces of legislation every year. And each has been either ill-conceived, draconian, bonkers, bitter, dangerous, counter-productive, childish, wrong, thoughtless, selfish, or designed primarily to make life a bit more miserable for everyone except six people in the BBC, 14 on The Guardian and Al Gore. Still, with such a torrent of new rules and regulations pouring onto the statute books every day, it was statistically inevitable that one day they’d accidentally do something sensible. And last week that day arrived. They decided that everyone who’s capable of reaching the takeaway shop without being shot in the face is eating far too much Trex and that the way to get them eating fair-trade lettuce and organic tofu instead is to make cooking a part of the school curriculum for children aged 11-14.
JAMIE SAMUELSEN'S BLOG: Why Lions won't miss any of their free agents
Id start with Mike Martz, but I have a feeling hell decide to leave. It seems odd that a team with the championship pedigree like the Lions would part ways with the one coach who actually did a good job over the last two seasons. But I digress. I have a take it or leave it attitude about all of the Lions free agents. Im targeting none of them. If they bring TJ Duckett back, Id be fine with it. Duckett is a really good guy and fills a need, especially if they go back to a more traditional running game this season. When given a chance and given carries, he did do a good job. Im really skeptical on Damien Woody. The optimist would say that he got his weight down a little bit and found a new position at tackle where he can really help. The pessimist would say that he was simply playing for a contract in his final year and will go right back to being the same old Damien Woody with a new deal.
Britney Does Worse Than Expected!
Yeah, but look at itunes and amazon.com, and combined all those sales along with billboard…billboard is hatin the fact that if Britney goes to #1 she'll be the only artist to have all her album debut at #1. But b/c she's a trainwreck and billboard is ran by old hicks like the grammy's, they would see the eagles be #1. PS my dad bought the eagles, and my dad is internet incompetent…. .
